Lock 22 - Pennyfield Lock

Mile 19.63 - This is not the lock house, it's the Haunted House just across from the lock.

The gate is still intact but it's leaky.  This and the bypass flume make a considerable noise of running water.

There's a bridge over this bypass flume which is always watered with a quick current.

Your standard issue white-washed lockhouse is between the canal and river.

The rock face is sheer but pleasing to the eye..
