Falling Waters

Mile 94.44 - There are two large stone foundations on either side of the towpath.  Also a plaque that reads:

Falling Waters - Retreating after Gettysburg, the confederate army was trapped for seven days by the swollen Potomac River.  July 13-14 Gen. Lee with Longstreet's and Hill's corps crossed here on a pontoon bridge.  Ewell's corps forded the Potomac above Williamsport.   Maryland Civil War Centennial Commission

This USGS topological map shows the mobile homes centered around Falling Waters road.  They are represented by square dot.  Further on down the river, you can see more homes on the Virginia side.
