Lock 53 - Irishman's Lock

Mile 130- You can see the foundations of the lockhouse on the other side of the towpath.

The hardware that forms the hinge of the swing gate is missing but you can still see the outline of it carved in stone.

You can see more stone carving for the sluice valves (the recessed panel just above the water line) and the gate hinge (rounded corner to the right.)
