Lock 7 - Glen Echo

Mile 7 - Note the bypass flume that circle the back of the lockhouse.  The Clara Barton home is nearby.  She was the founder of the American Red Cross and the major commuter route that runs alongside the canal here is the Clara Barton Parkway.

The lock is of the drop gate variety (more on that later.)  The walls of the lock appear to be reinforced with diagonal beams.
