The 1999 McMullan family reunion was held at Earl Rowe park in southern Ontario. We picked that place because it is somewhat central to most of the settled McMullans. The only two notable exceptions are Jean Haw (nee McMullan) who lives near Ottawa and me, who lives near Washington, DC. Everyone else lives within an hour or two of Toronto.
The people who attend are my Dad's brothers and sisters and their families. After a picnic lunch, we have kids' games and swimming at the nearby lake. It's a chance to see everyone, catch up on the changes, swap stories and meet the recent additions to the family. Heck, in a couple of generations, there could be hundreds of people at this reunion!
The inspiration for this idea was simply the many family picnics we went to when we were kids. Most of the same people are still there. They're older and wiser and now have kids of their own but it's every bit as fun.
