woob (woob) v., woobed, woobing, --v.t. 1. to annoy or pester in a persistent manner. 2. to offer helpful but unwanted advice, especially repeatedly. 3. to demand, complain or argue
Teenagers have the uncanny ability of tuning out any unpleasant communications. The rantings, nagging or teasings of another are filtered by the pubescent mind and sound like the squawkings of the school teacher in a Charlie Brown cartoon or like the "woob, woob, woob!" of Curly Howard (of The Three Stooges).
Since woob is a relatively new word, the proper spelling hasn't been finalized. Its pronouciation is very similar to wood and so spelling it w-o-o-b would be reasonable. However it also sounds very similar to would and therefore, by the same logic, could also be spelt woulb. The tendency of people who use computers too much to add random "3"s to the mix would make it woul3b with the 3 being silent. Woul3b is the preferred spelling but on this woul3b site, the abbreviated woob is used.
Of course you have! When your parents tell you you've been lazing around too much and ought to do something useful with all your time... you've been woobed.
When you tell your kids to pick up their rooms and instead of saying "Yes, Sir!", they mouth off... you've been woobed.
Getting woobed is very common, so let's celebrate the fine art of woobing.
